NATIONAL HVAC SPECIFICATION FOR STARBUCKS, CANADA

THERMOSCREENS AIR CURTAINS ARE PART OF THE NATIONAL HVAC SPECIFICATION FOR STARBUCKS COFFEE IN CANADA.

Why did Starbucks pick Thermoscreens and why would you use an Air Curtain?

  • Air Curtains are an effective way to manage and control interior room comfort as the doors of your operation constantly open and close with the flow of Starbucks patrons.
  • In the winter we feel cold drafts and it can be difficult to enjoy sitting within 10 feet of the doorway due to the flow of incoming winter air and snow!
  • In the summer we drastically reduce the influx of warm, humid air allowing our air conditioning to function properly and provide a cool environment.
  • In both cases an air curtain provides comfort and reduces energy use. So it is environmentally sound while providing a good environment.
  • The units conserve energy that is built up inside and only operate when the doors are open. When the doors close, the air curtains automatically turn off to conserve energy.
Starbuck’s Corporate View on Energy and the Environment:
“Energy use in our stores makes up roughly 80% of our entire carbon footprint. That makes it our single biggest impact on the climate – and our single biggest opportunity to make significant improvements. Conserving energy and increasing efficiency are two important measures we can take to reduce our contribution to climate change.”
Our Goal: By end of 2010 we aim to reduce our energy use in new stores by 25% and to obtain 50% of our energy from renewable sources in all of our company-owned stores.
